Photo Tips
Curious what photos can be turned into WinZigs? Here is the complete guide to how to either choose an existing photo or take a new one for the best results.
FYI: WinZigs are what we call the cutout subjects of your photos! This can be a person, animal, etc. All of our examples will show people in sports but we are not limited to just that!
General rules:
- Pictures must be high quality
- Straight on photos work better than profile shots
- Make sure all arms and legs are visible
- The brighter the photo, the better it will print
- If you are ordering a sports WinZig, make sure the object that will be made 3-D (ball/helmet/etc) is visible so it can easily be removed from the image and then replaced without cutting off any parts of your WinZig
- Should not be blocking the person or be blocked by the person)
If you are using a picture you have already taken:
- Action shots work as long as all of the general rules are followed
Here is some examples of photos that work:
All 3 of these photos are good quality and the person/subject is not blurry. The 3 balls are either separate from the person or positioned in a way that they can easily be replaced from the image with a physical ball when your WinZig is made.
Here are some examples of photos that DON'T work:
This photo is high quality, but the second arm isn't visible.
The photo is low quality and would not print well.
Not only is one of his arms hidden, but the ball is also blocking his foot. If we remove the ball, we would also have to remove of piece of him.
Not only are his feet cutoff, but almost half of the ball is blocked by his body. To place the physical ball with the WinZig, we would have to cut that part of his body out too to hold the soccer ball in place. Also, since the ball goes past his arm, his hand would get cutoff.
If you're staging a photo:
- Solid backgrounds are best, but not necessary
- Have the ball/helmet/accessory fully visible
Poses that work best:
Soccer:
Facing camera, holding ball at the side
Facing camera, ball under foot
Football:
Blank background, helmet is fully visible
